2. Introduction by the Chairman
Chairman’s Report.
I reported for the 2017 Annual General Meeting that 2017 had been a rather slow start to the year. 2018 however has been the opposite
We have continued to attract more new members and their continued support of the forum and its work is very evident. It is very satisfying when individual members of the forum are becoming the architects of new thoughts and ideas. This situation is very much welcomed and reflects the real interest that members have in the forum, the desire to keep the patients at Gnosall informed of the many changes that take place within the NHS generally and at practice level.
We have again discussed a number of topics at the forum meetings including wider issues within the NHS nationally and of the many new initiatives that are taking place at the practice itself. We have received reports led by Victor Scofield on various matters of interest generated at the wider patients participation groups assembled from practices throughout the Stafford and Cannock areas.
Whilst it is very well recognised that there is a national shortage of doctors the Gnosall practice fares very well. We currently have three full time doctors as well as Urgent Care Practitioners. We are also expecting two new Urgent Care Practitioners to commence work at the practice in October and November.
These two appointments will form part of the permanent staff. It is further expected that a Clinical Pharmacist will join the practice soon. This practitioner will be able to carry out medication reviews in addition to treating minor ailments.
We also have Diabetes and Coronary heart disease clinics operating on Wednesday afternoons. Patients need to be referred to this clinic by a doctor
Extended access to services is also now available between 6.30 and 8.00 pm Monday to Friday and Saturday and Sunday mornings. This service however is provided together with other practices in Stafford, Cannock and Rugeley.
Discussions are also taking place with Katherine House Hospice to see if a member of their team could be available to help with palliative care at Gnosall
This initiative is however dependant on available funding. I am also very pleased to announce that the Gnosall Patients Forum has moved into the 21st century. We have our own website up and running. This site is linked to the main practice website. Whilst it is in its infancy we are now already publishing various information including the Agendas and Minutes of all our meetings. My very grateful thanks to Trevor Ashton for his work in the building of the website. He has agreed to continue to manage the site for at least the next 10 years!
In conclusion to this report I would like to thank Nicola Greaves the Practice Manager and her senior team for attending our meetings and keeping us informed of developments within the practice.
Whilst this is a brief report on the work of the forum I do of course thank all members for their continued support, for their help in the running of the forum, for their suggestions and good level of debate.
It is your health service. Come and join us.
Thank you
Alex,
Chairman.

5. General Discussion
Ian Macmichael and Steven Lister hope to have a draft of the new leaflet for the next meeting with a view to making it available in the new year. It will also be available to view on the website. It could be publicised on the TV screen though it is only viewable from some of the seats in the waiting area.
The waiting time indication on booking in for an appointment is not being updated and is therefore unhelpful.
Alex reported that a website is under construction for the area’s Patients Participation Groups (PPG).
Trevor Ashton gave an introduction to the forum’s website. This will be repeated at the next meeting with more people attending.
The new pharmacist will come to the next meeting.
6. Date of Next Meeting
